Hey there! I am so happy that you found us! In case you are wondering how I got here keep reading. Spoiler alert, this is not some grandiose lifelong dream, in fact, just the opposite.
My family and I have been visiting the area since 2015 with the plan of relocating around 2018. After many trips we settled in Raleigh in 2019 and have not looked back. We LOVE this area. There is so much natural beauty, plenty of things to do and see, great restaurants, breweries and shopping. You already know all this is if you are a local.
So let's touch upon shopping for a moment. Downtown Cary is undergoing a major revitalization. There are new buildings going up, restaurants, The Mayton has been growing, the Downtown park is well underway, the new Library is amazing but.... where are all the cute shops you see in vibrant, walkable small towns? This is where the idea for Good Day Cary was born.
I had sworn off being a small business owner after leaving Long Island and ESPECIALLY after seeing the hardships of 2020. I wanted low responsibility and freedom. It wasn't until I had worked a few part time jobs locally that I really felt lost and unfulfilled. One evening walking with my husband along S. Academy Street I really felt a pull to start a gift shop. I looked around and saw all types of people, young and old, walking dogs, pushing strollers and it was just idyllic. Hate to sound corny but it's true. When the street lights are on and the trees are glowing it is truly magical. I just knew that I wanted to be a part of the community and have a small business here. I am NOT a risk taker but I thought, if I don't open a gift shop, someone else will and I will look back with regret. At this point in my life regret is not an option.
So that's it... this is how Good Day Cary was born. I saw an opportunity and ran with it. I am creating the place where I would want to shop. I strive to provide a friendly and inviting atmosphere filled with carefully curated gits that you may not see in other shops. I like to say that I know my lane. I am not trying to be anyone else. Sure there are some products that are found elsewhere but I am looking everyday for gifts that will bring you joy and that you're excited to give to others. I specialize in Cary hometown items, local makers and small companies, made in the USA when possible. We have an assortment of jewelry, paper products including cards, baby items, bags, books, candles, barware and art. Good vibes only.
Come see me the next time you are in Downtown Cary. We're in the little blue house next to Bullcity Cider and a & be Bridal and across the street from Pizzeria Faulisi, Pro's Epicurean, Side Bar and Bond Brothers.
cheers!
